Meet Rowena
Rowena started her experience with health and beauty working summers in a small home town hair salon over 25 years ago. She quickly learned the positive effects of giving and receiving self care.
She realized she enjoyed learning about ingredients, the application of hair, skincare and makeup and sharing this with others for them to receive the beautiful benefits.
After a career in hair, skincare and makeup sales as a salon rep and store management, Rowena entered the retail beauty space managing a team at makeup counters such as MAC and CHANEL. This is where her study of ingredients, the body and desire to get to the source of skin concerns led her to become a professional licensed esthetician.
Fast forward to now owning Derma Bella Skin Studio for 15 years, she’s offered one on one, high touch, self care to thousands of clients through advanced skin treatments and home care using state of the art skin therapy devices.
She prides her self on taking detailed and intuitive care of her clients, business and staff while balancing as a community volunteer, a fire fighter wife and mother of 2 young children.

Meet Chrissy
I am a certified licensed esthetician in Santa Cruz, Ca. My passion for skincare and make-up began at an early age, while participating in my mother’s Mary Kay workshops. From this point on, I was obsessed with products, make-up, skin care and sharing my “secrets” with friends and family.
I started my career as an esthetician in 2006. I have been blessed to love what I do for a living. Continuing my education and staying up to date with current trends is not only necessary, but my passion. I have worked in top spas, resorts and waxing centers. I pride myself on providing customized treatment for each individual. Whether the goal is to enjoy a relaxing spa experience, to receive a superior wax service or to treat problematic skin, I will create a unique plan specific to their needs.
I truly believe everyone deserves to look and feel their best.
I am happily married and the mother of two wonderful boys (ages 18 & 5). After becoming pregnant, I realized the importance of being conscious of the products (and their ingredients) I used, especially on a daily basis. It is just as important that I apply the same standards for products and treatments used in my facials, as well as what I recommend to my clients for home care.
I love that Derma Bella Skin Studio shares the same sentiment. My goal is to always provide each client with a customized and relaxing facial using results oriented products & services.

Hi, I'm Sumer and I'm so happy to be on the Derma Bella Team!
I've known Rowena for years and actually grew up with her hubby Matt! My role at Derma Bella is mainly social media and marketing, but I help out in other areas as well, wherever Rowena might need assistance... a girl Friday of sorts.
It excites me to work at Derma Bella because I’m learning so much about the skin and how it’s really an indicator for what’s going on internally. I get to see people’s lives change, I get to see them transform.
People who have struggled with skin issues come here and find actual answers to why they have these issues and are given practical and lasting solutions. I love to see them leave Derma Bella after a treatment, glowing not only on the outside, but from within as well.
l'm a wife to a wonderful husband Joe, and mama to two amazing sons and a beautiful daughter in law. I'm also an artist and maker here in Santa Cruz. l specialize in hand gilded fine art photography, but also make fun, bright, colorful accessories for you and your home.

Rene Freeman is a seasoned expert with 20 years of experience in the health and wellness industry. As a Functional Nutritionist, Internationally Certified Health Coach, Certified Pilates Instructor, and Licensed Esthetician, Rene has dedicated her career to promoting holistic health, education, and support. She specializes in fertility, pregnancy, postpartum care, and hormonal balance for both skin and overall health & well-being. Her comprehensive approach ensures that clients receive personalized care tailored to their unique needs.
I love everything about Derma Bella! Especially the intrinsic why of healing and not harming. Mindful, holistic esthetics resonate with my core principles and witnessing Derma Bella thrive over the last several years is truly an honor.

Rene is a dedicated mom of five wonderful children who thrives on an active lifestyle. She enjoys participating in sports and various athletic activities. Rene and her partner share a healthy relationship of several years, bonding over their love for cooking, coastal hikes, and attending soccer matches. She also enjoys Yin Yoga, Farmer’s Market finds, and making memories by enjoying simple days at the beach with her family. Her favorite quote is: “We are who we believe we are.”
